Vendor Biography

My name is Lyubov Shakhimardanova, and my lifelong passion is crocheting, especially working with Irish lace. I am deeply grateful to my mother and to our grandmothers who have passed down their traditional crocheting patterns and techniques from our Slavic-Russian cultures.

I am presently based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, but most of my contacts, including colleagues and much loved mentors, live in different parts of the world.

I am an honored member of Olga Starostina’s International School of Irish Lace Lovers since 2019 and a member of the OIDFA, CGOA, CGA and Irish lace Guild.

I have been crocheting since I was nine years old, binding flowers for my mother’s birthday. Since then, crocheting has been one way I create gifts with my own hands. As soon as Irish lace appeared in 2008, it immediately caught my attention. I was fascinated by the fine thread and intricate detailing and patterns.

I am creating detailed floral designs and integrated them into my creations. Over the years, my love for crocheting has blossomed into designing doilies, collars, scarves, gloves, sweaters, designer dresses, and traditional Christmas ornaments and holiday decorations.
