This book is a monograph dedicated to the Spanish game – one of the most informative and popular sections of opening theory. It is intended for the widest range of chess lovers – both for highly skilled and beginners in the study of opening theory. The variants under consideration are illustrated with whole games, whose number exceeds 4000. They are selected from tournaments of masters over the past two decades. Separate examples of chess classics were also used. The predominant place is given to the games of Soviet masters, who are at the top of chess art. This extremely rich information is the state of the art in the theory of the Spanish Party. An essential feature of the book is the attached peculiar card-indexing method for systematizing information. The opening moves and the intermediate and main positions to which they lead are given separately and illustrated by diagrams.

One of the effective methods of working on chess improvement is the study of the opening in connection with the middlegame, and sometimes even the endgame.
