History: the magazine “Za Rubezhom” (Abroad) was founded by the writer Maxim Gorky in 1932 as a review of the foreign press. The duties of the chief editors were performed by Gorky and Mikhail Koltsov. In 1936, after Gorky’s death, the publication was headed by V. Koltsov. In 1938, the issue of the magazine was discontinued.
On June 18, 1960, the Union of Journalists of the USSR, with the support of A. Ajubey, resumed the publication of “Za rubezhom” in the form of a weekly newspaper.
