Soviet wooden chess set.
One of the classic vintage Russian popular chess sets of the USSR period.
Good condition chess figures.
Board size: 40×40 cm.
King is 10.3 cm.
Pawn is 5.7 cm.
White knights made of wood; black ones made of plastic.
Kings/Queens finials made of plastic (not original, these are push pins instead).
Damages:Â finials of the kings and queens are not original; black king has another collar of the bottom felt.
Maybe it was replaced or maybe it is the similar chess figure from the same style chess set (it is thinner a little bit than white king, but identical in shape).
Chess was a very popular game in the Soviet Union.
Children and adults were playing chess regularly, playing at home, on the streets, in the clubs.
