Annotation: The book contains 100 selected games of Keres, which are an excellent illustration of his creative biography. The author’s analyzes and comments are fundamental, filled with characteristic features of individuality and that spirit of self-criticism, without which it is impossible to comprehensively and objectively reveal the process of struggle and the depth of chess art.
2. Paul Keres “French Defense”. Very Rare Edition. Publisher: Physical education and sports. Pages: 260. 1958 year.
Annotation: The French Defense is a direct continuation of the author’s work on The Theory of Chess Openings, where the review of open openings is completed in the first and second parts. The analyzes and examples given in this book are based on several thousand games that the author had to collect and systematize in the process of working on book. In addition to this, everything of value that we managed to find on the French Defense in theoretical opening guides is used here. In order for the book to be understandable and interesting to a wide circle of chess players, the author tried to present all the variations not in the form of dry tables, but in a live form, similar to commenting on individual games. The diagrams often show not the best, but the most common continuations, and only the notes indicate stronger possibilities. Collecting in one book and critically reworking everything that has been created and analyzed so far in the French Defense, the author hopes to give readers an objective picture of the individual playing systems of this opening in the light of the latest theoretical research.
