1. “Meran System”. Author: Boris Weinstein: Physical Culture and Sports. 1st edition. 1956 year. Language: Russian. 144 pages. Format: Standard, illustrations.
Annotation: The subject of the book is the Meran system, one of the most fascinating and most controversial branches of modern opening theory. The first part of the book gives a historical sketch of the origin and development of the Meran system, its main directions, shows the most important games that laid the foundation for new ideas for white and black, and reproduces the statements and assessments of major chess players.The author proposed a classification system for chess beginnings, that is, he made an attempt to approach the solution of a question that has been very little developed in chess literature. The proposed decimal classification is applicable not only to the Meran system, but to the Queen’s Gambit in general, as well as to other openings. The author proposed new ideas and better methods of attack and defense.The second part of the book is devoted to a detailed analysis of the variants of the Meran system.
