Haandarbejdets fremme was founded in 1928 with the aim of promoting and encouraging needlework and art/crafts. The first calendar was published in 1960 and has since had many well-known artists, including the Danish monarch Her Majesty Queen Margrethe. Each calendar is published with 12 patterns for embroidery. Every year there is a new theme and different guest designers. At the end of the book, there are some of the techniques used explained. Haandarbejdets fremme designs quite timeless and beautiful. 1970 – The theme of this book is the animals of the zoo.
