Poinsettia is a charming flower, decorated on top with red (most often), pink, cream and even variegated bracts during the flowering period, effectively shaded by the lower dark green ones. This is one of the few plants that delight us with flowering in winter, so it is in winter that it is most often bought – for Christmas and New Year’s compositions, holiday compositions.
This plant was named after the first American minister of Mexico, Joel Roberts Poinsett, he was fond of botany and admired the beauty of poinsettia. This plant blooms at Christmas, in connection with which it is also called the “Christmas star” or “Bethlehem star”.
