This is a very warm chunky knit cardigan with three rows of larger and smaller paillettes. It is made with generous ease in the body and upper sleeves, and the sleeves narrow down to the cuffs. Coconut shell buttons are lightweight but hold well if you choose to wear the cardigan buttoned down.
For this cardigan, I used 100% sheep’s wool also known as Dundaga yarn made and dyed in small factory in Latvia. The wool is washed using old methods with salt and in a pond which saves up to 70% of natural lanolin. This ensures that the garments you knit from it will be very warm. No chemicals are used in the production so it is as friendly for the planet as it can be :).
Dundaga wool is much more rough than merino wool. It is more like homemade rustic wool. That’s why it is very warm, good looking and durable. Although garments knit from this yarn become softer with each washing, they may still feel a bit rough to sensitive skins so if you are on the sensitive side, you may enjoy wearing this garment layered for extra comfort and warmth.
