The fichu knitting pattern is perfect for beginner knitters.

The Charm Fichu is a crescent small shawl with large wingspan. It’s knitted in one piece from the center (garter tab cast-on) to the body, transition and edging worked with traditional lace stitch patterns. This design is pretty simple, but very beautiful!

The pattern is fully charted (no row-by-row written instructions).

NOTES:

  • You can use any natural fiber yarn of lace, fingering, or sport weight.
  • The shawl is worked top down in one piece.
  • Knitting skills required: reading charts, basic lace knowledge (knit, purl, ssk, sk2p, yo) , blocking lace shawls.
  • Skill Level: Advanced-beginner.
  • Available in English.

For knitting this shawl you will need:

  • 50 -80 of lace weight, or 130-160 gr fingering-sport natural yarn suitable for shawls.
  • 40-inch (100 cm) circular needles.
  • Crochet hook.
  • Blocking pins.

Yarn: DROPS Baby Alpaca Silk, Sport.

Yardage: 475.8 yds (435.1 m).

Needles: US 6 (4.0 mm), US 7 (4.5 mm).

Finished measurements: Wingspan: 66.9’’ (170 cm), Depth: 21.6’’ (55 cm).

 

Blue sample:

Yarn: Silk Mohair by Lana Gatto, Lace.

Yardage: 464.0 yds (424.2 m).

Needles: US 6 (4.0 mm).

Finished measurements: Wingspan: 63’’ (160 cm), Depth: 21.6’’ (55 cm).
