The Not-Made-By-Hands icon, also known as the Holy Mandylion is one of the earliest icons witnessed to by the Church.
It is a sacred and revered depiction of Jesus Christ’s face miraculously imprinted on a cloth.
According to Orthodox belief, it was created when Jesus pressed a cloth to His face, leaving a miraculous imprint. This image was later sent to King Abgar of Edessa, who was healed upon receiving it.
The design shows Christ’s serene and solemn visage, surrounded by a cloth with realistic folds and adorned with ornamental borders bearing traditional crosses.
