Saint Raphael was bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church, auxiliary bishop of Brooklyn, vicar of the Northern-American diocese, and head of the Antiochian Syrian Christian mission. He is best known for being the first Eastern Orthodox Bishop of America and founding 30 parishes in North America. From his youth, Saint Raphael’s greatest joy was to serve the Church. He always took great care of his flock and helped them to grow spiritually. Raphael of Brooklyn was canonized by the Orthodox Church in America.
