St Ita, also known as Íde, Ite, Ida or Ides, “the Foster Mother of the Irish Saints,” was born in the fifth century.
She, like many of the Irish saints, was of the nobility.
After St. Brigid, St. Ita is the most famous woman saint in Ireland.
Many people sought her spiritual counsels, and she also seems to have practiced medicine to some degree.
Her life was spent in repentance and asceticism.
St Ita is the patron saint of Killeedy. She is reportedly a good intercessor in terms of pregnancy.
