This is one of the few plants that delight us with flowering precisely in winter, therefore it is in winter that it is most often bought – for Christmas and New Year.
This plant was named after the first American Minister of Mexico, Joel Roberts Poinsett, he was fond of botany and admired the beauty of poinsettia. Such a plant blooms at Christmas, in this regard, it is also called the “Christmas star”, or the “Star of Bethlehem”.
