Report AbuseThe bumblebee is embroidered using stumpwork technique. The description is based on my knowledge of embroidery, and it may differ from traditional methods. I will show you how to embroider wings, how to process edges, and how to assemble a bumbleebee. If you have not used such technique before, you may have to practice a little. Parts are very small; it requires a lot of patience and diligence. I describe the whole process step-by-step, explaining it with a large number of photos.
I’ve added a video where I show all the difficult moments in detail. The links to the video are in the PDF file.
Bumblebee is very realistic. It looks like a real insect is sitting on your dress.
The wings are made of transparent material (organza) and embroidered with mouline. A wire is inserted along the edge of the wing, so the wings can be moved.
The body of the bumblebee is also embroidered with mouline (cotton) threads. The wrong side is made of felt. Insect legs are made of wire and mouline.
Step by step, you will learn the whole process of creating a bumblebee. It is more suitable for reading on a computer or tablet screen than for printing. You will need a PDF reader (Eg. Adobe Reader) to open and view the file.
I am always in touch. If you have any questions during the embroidering, contact me. I will try to do my best to help you.
