Annotation: Every chess lover knows how important tactics are in the “royal game” and how important it is to practice them widely. But how tactics should be approached is still controversial. Famous Soviet international grandmaster and chess writer Averbakh In his “Chess Tactics for Advanced Players” he points out a completely new way to do this. Its main goal is to provide a theoretical framework through which the student can easily study numerous, extremely diverse tactical phenomena. First, Averbakh explores the simplest problems that arise when different characters collide. When moving to complex situations, the author shows the important role double attacks play. With instructive examples he shows that most tactical operations are based on double attacks in the broadest sense.
Annotation (German): Jeder Schachfround weiß, wie wichtig im königlichen Spiel” die Taktik ist und wie bedeutsam es ist, sich mit ihr ausgiebig zu beschäftigen. Doch umstritten ist bislang auf welche Art man sich mit der Taktik befassen soll. Der bekannte sowjetische Internationale Großmeister und Schachautor Awerbach weist mit seiner Schach- taktik für Fortgeschrittene” hierfür einen völlig neu- artigen Weg. Ihm geht es vor allem darum, eine theoretische Grundlage zu schaffen, mit deren Hilfe der Lernende mühelos die zahl- reichen, äußerst vielfältigen taktischen Erscheinungen studieren kann. Zunächst untersucht Awerbach die einfachsten Sachverhalte, die sich beim Aufeinanderprallen der ver- schiedenen Figuren ergeben. Beim Übergang zu schwie- rigen Situationen zeigt der Autor, welche große Rolle Doppelangriffe spielen. An instruktiven Beispielen weist er nach, daß Doppelangriffe im weitesten Sinne den meisten taktischen Opera- tionen zugrunde liegen.
